She was born to the late Ruth Neely and Julius Franklin Rogers, and was a Wrightsville Beach resident for fifty-two years. Ruth was a fine Christian woman with noble characteristics which she leaves as a legacy to her family. She was an unselfish, caring person who quietly gave of herself, volunteering in many different ways. She could be found delivering meals on wheels, bringing cheer to shut-ins, or telling the history of the Seagate Trolley at the Wrightsville Beach Museum. Her God-given talent was having a way with words by writing beautiful poetry and teaching both children and adults. She was an active member of Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church for fifty-two years where she served in many roles. She was a teacher, a deacon, and served on many committees. Her most significant ministry was that of Adult Sunday School teacher for over forty years. Her special gift of teaching affected many lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years, Bobby , in September 2005; a brother, Julius Franklin Rogers Jr., and a sister, Mrs. Texie Hines.
Surviving is her loving family, daughter, Robbie B. Hodges and husband Glenn W. Hodges; grandson, Tate Burnett Hodges; sister, Mrs. Beatrice R. Beasley; sister-in-law, Mrs. Margaret Zepkin (Eugene) of Newport News, VA.
