His death was reported by the New Albany Gazette on the front page of its May 28, 1931, edition, under a banner headline across the full front page stating "Death Comes Suddenly to N.A. Citizen" "Rev. Edgar Blizzard is Fatally Stricken Last Friday Night"
His long obituary reads, in part:
Ed Blizzard was a high class man.
All who really knew him were his friends.
The path he followed was always straight. From it he never deviated.
He was ruggedly honest and sincere.
The best within him always went into what he was doing.
He was a good school man, a good preacher, a good county supt. education, a good farmer.
New Albany perhaps never had a better mayor, and yet he made no fuss about it.
In fact his was a quiet unostentatious life.
To Mrs. Blizzard, her children, his brothers, and to all who mourn the going of this good man, we offer sympathy. God bless them."
