Orland Kay Abbott passed away July 31, 2006 at his home in Provo, Utah. Orland was born July 9, 1946 in Provo. He was the son of Stephen Nelson Abbott and Florence Elizabeth Durrant.Orland attended Franklin Elementary, Central Junior High and Dixon Junior High. He attended high school at Provo High School and graduated in 1965 from Springville High School. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Orland cared for himself as he faced life's challenges. He received his training with the Job Corps. He worked at Lamb's Cafe, Diamond Lil's in Salt Lake City and Action Target in Provo. He made friends easily and respected by those who admired his sense of determination.Orland is survived by his brothers Stephen Paul of Provo, Utah; Ronald Kent (Sue Ann) of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Thomas (Dianne) of Alpine, Utah; Gary (Linda) of Payson, Utah; and his sister Irene (Merrill) Thompson of Clearfield, Utah. Orland is survived by many nieces and nephews who will always remember his happy countenance, who always had something unique to share with them. He was preceded in death by his parents, and younger brother Kenneth Jay.Graveside services will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Provo City Cemetery on Thursday, August 3, 2006. No public viewing will be held. Family and friends may gather to visit prior to graveside service at the cemetery, 610 South State, Provo, Utah.
