Clark D. Baer, 79 of 405 Fairview Avenue, Waynesboro, died at 6:10 p.m. Sunday, March 25 in the Waynesboro Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past three years and critically ill for the past three weeks.
Born Aug 11, 1910, in Five Forks, he was the son of the late Amos and Mary Ellen "Mazie" (Summers) Baer. He lived his early years in the Five Forks area and then moved to the Baltimore area in 1937.
He was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad at Port Covington Station, first as a yard worker and later as a switchman, retiring in 1972.
He and his wife, Catherine I. (Herold) Kram Baer, were married in May 1960. She died in October 1984.
Mr. Baer was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II.
He attended Grace Brethren Church.
He was a member of the AFL-CIO Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees.
Surviving are four stepdaughters, Mrs. Joan C. Himmel and Miss Catherine I. Kram, both of Baltimore, Mrs Linda A. Smith of Westminster, Md and Mrs. Theresa M. Rizzo of Stevensville, Md. two stepsons, John Kram Jr. of Pasadena, Md., and George W. Kram of Creole, La.; 10 step-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
He was the last of his immediate family.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Grove Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger K. Myers officiating. Burial will be in Price's Church Cemetery.
