She died suddenly at around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, August 4th, 1984 of an accidental shooting, after returning home from the funeral of her son, A.J. Deer in Bastrop, Louisiana.
She was a native of Oak grove, West Carroll, Louisiana and had resided in Red Rock for approximately 20 years. She was an active Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary member and held a number of positions in the organization.
