Sonya L. Adams
Age 44, of Joliet, IL, passed away suddenly Wednesday August 2, 2006.
Sonya was born on May 7, 1962 in Joliet, the daughter of Moses and Tamar McBride. She attended and received her education in the Joliet Township school system.
Sonya enjoyed singing and was well appreciated for her comedic abilities and gift of gab. Sonya will mostly be remembered for her God-given talents of entertaining children. She had a remarkable gift for reading children's stories that really brought the characters alive for her audience.
Sonya is survived by her mother, Tamar McBride of Joliet; two daughters, Jamie McBride of Joliet and Jessica Willingham of Saginan, MI, four sisters, Lisa McBride of Joliet, Charise Barret of Lithonia, GA, Sabrena McBride and Synara McBride of Renton, WA; four nieces, Krystal Barrett, Darnisha Barrett, Chandler McBride and Elizabeth Norton; three nephews, Cleveland Barrett, Moses Barrett and Kaari McBride; special cousin, Jamal Wiley; as well as numerous other relatives and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kelo and Idella Adams and father Moses McBride.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2006 from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home and Monday, August 7, 2006 at 9 AM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 402 Singleton Place, Joliet, IL. Service at 10 am on Monday, August 7, 2006. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery, Joliet.
