CREVE COEUR ~ Gertrude Margaret "Trudy" Frederick, 84, of 711 Pekin Ave., died at 12:35 a.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at Timbercreek Rehab and Health Care in Pekin.

Born December 3, 1921 in Allentown to William and Grace Weber Warner, she married John Clifton Frederick on September 30, 1961 in Chillicothe.

Surviving are her husband; 1 step-daughter, Harriette Spaw of Belleville; 1 step-son, Edwin Frederick of Peoria; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Grace (Wilbur) Moore of Morton.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers.

A 1940 graduate of Brown's School of Business in Peoria, she last worked as a secretary at Commercial Solvents Corporation in Peoria.

She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria where she had taught a children's Sunday school class.

She was a member of the Tazewell County Historical Society and had served as the Allentown historian for 50 years.

She enjoyed writing poetry and, during the polio epidemic of the 1950s, she was well known as "Trudy the Story Lady" for reading stories and poetry to the children at St. Francis Hospital

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006 at Grace Presbyterian Church in Peoria. The Rev. Robert Donaldson will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Creve Coeur Chapel.
