Randolph, Texas -- Lucille Stewman of Randolph passed away December 18, 2004 at Ashley Court at Turtle Creek in Dallas. She was born to T.C. and Zella Brookins in Farmersville, Texas and moved to Randolph as a young child.

She married Obie Stewman in 1936. Mrs. Stewman and her sister, the late Thelma Brookins, opened the Malinda Shop in Trenton Texas in the 1950's. After her sister's death in 1960 she and her husband, Obie Stewman opened Stewman's, a ladies specialty store in Bonham in the mid 60's. They opened another store in the Sher-Den Mall in 1970 when the mall opened.

After Mr. Stewman's death in 1976 she continued in the Sherman store until her retirement in 1980. She traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe. She enjoyed playing the organ, volunteering at the Sam Rayburn House, and was a very prolific painter in oils and watercolors.

She married John Lea in 1991 and he preceded her in death in 2001.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Malinda and Dick Carter of Garland, grandchildren, Melanie and Don Grammar of Whitewright, Jack and Merry Hopper of Aubrey and great-grandchildren Courtney Hopper, Mark and Tifany Torres and Brian Grammar.

The family will receive friends at Wise Funeral Home in Bonham, Monday, December 20, 2004 from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M.

Graveside services will be held at Burns Cemetery, Trenton, Texas on Tuesday, Dec. 21 at 11:00 A.M.
