Jane Hakes was born August 6, 1931 in Waukee to John and Louise Hanlon. She married Richard Hakes on July 17, 1950 at St. Boniface Church and they made their home in Dallas Center for the next 57 years. Jane had worked at Dallas Mutual Insurance and Fox Insurance in Dallas Center, retiring in 1988. She enjoyed reading and especially sewing for family and friends. Jane's passion was her family.
Jane is survived by her husband Dick Hakes, her children Terri (Ed) Shafer of Grimes, Geri (James) Thacker of Coon Rapids and Mike Hakes of Dallas Center, her grandchildren, Janie Jondle, Jackie Thompson, Matt Shafer and Vanessa and Ian Richardson, six great-grandchildren and her sisters, Fran Romeo of Dallas Center, Catherine Vogel of Yale and Marie (Jerry) Hooper of Dallas Center.
