Sarah Esther Yerkes was the eldest daughter and second child of Hiram Yerkes by his wife Anna Lewis. She is No. 629 in Chronicles of the Yerkes Family by Josiah Granville Leach. She was born in Southampton Township, Bucks county 29 Sept 1838, and married George W. Moore 9 April 1862. Her younger sister Phebe Yerkes lived with the Moores. "Sallie" had three children. Ella Moore who died soon after birth, Annie Lewis Moore and James Newton Moore. After the death of her husband in 1908, she and her sister lived with her brother Martin and his family. All of the Moore family are buried in Hatboro Cemetery.
