George W. Brewer, Jr. was born in Larue County, Kentucky on July 28th, 1878. He died at the Rosary Hospital in Campbellsville at 4 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5th, after a long illness. He professed faith in Christ several weeks ago. He united in marriage to Miss Lillie Skaggs some 60 years ago and she preceded him in death 16 years ago. To this union two daughters and four sons were born. Surviving are Mrs. Howard Hash and Leonard Brewer, both of Larue County; Jessie Brewer of Brooks, Ky.; a half sister and three half-brothers, Andy Brewer, Taylor County; Walter Brewer, Jefferson Co.; William Brewer and Miss Eliza Brewer, both of Underwood, Ind. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 7th at 1:00 p.m. at the Otter Creek Baptist Church by Rev. Garland Skaggs. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Harlan Hash, Paul Pierce, Thomas Brewer, Stanley Brewer, Carl Underwood, Gene Pierce. Flower girls were: Mrs. Goldie Hudson, Mrs. Ruby Hash, Mrs. Elsie Brewer, Mrs. Naomi Powers, Mrs. Edward Hunt, Mrs. Lois Williams, Mrs. Nellie Allen, Mrs. Ella Clark, Mrs. Virginia Hash, Mrs. Dorotha Hadley, Mrs. Vernie English, Miss Annie Lois Brewer, Mrs. Jeanetta Dickens, Mrs. Lelah French, and Miss Helen Ireland.
