NEW PLYMOUTH — Marvin L. Ahrens, 73, of New Plymouth, died Monday, August 11, 1986, in an Ontario, Ore. hospital of natural causes.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 14, at the Shaffer-Jensen Chapel of New Plymouth with Gary Paul and Angie Long officiating. Burial will follow in Parkview Cemetery, New Plymouth.
Mr. Ahrens, a retired Payette County Deputy Assessor, was born July 30, 1913, at Boone, Iowa, a son of Otto and Anna Warak Ahrens. He moved with his parents to Payette in 1919, where he was reared and educated. He married Audra Wise on Dec. 24, 1938, at Payette. They moved to north-eastern Oregon and to Emmett in 1944, where he worked in a saw-mill and also had a dairy farm. In 1952, they moved to New Plymouth where they operated a dairy farm and he worked for the Top Canning Company. In 1968, they moved into the town of New Plymouth. In January of 1973, he began working as a Deputy Assessor for Payette County. He retired in 1978.
He was a member of the Nondenominational Church.
Survivors include his wife, Audra of New Plymouth; three sons, Rick of Junction City, Ore., Ron of Wasilla, Alaska, and Roc of Haines, Alaska; a daughter, Judy Thompson of Walla Walla, Wash.; a brother, Floyd Ahrens of Bloomfield, N.M.; a sister, Ruth Grimes of Emmett; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Mountain States Tumor Institute or the New Plymouth Quick Response Unit.
Friends may call today from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Shaffer-Jensen Chapel.
