BOUNTIFUL UTAH – Virginia M. Power (Virgie)
passed away on Sunday, May 07, 2006 of natural age related causes. She was born in South Pittsburg, Tennessee on
May 11, 1908 to Lonzo Dallas Powers and Lillie Pearl Clark. She was the second of seven children, all who have preceded her in death. She was 97 years old. Virginia was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormon). She was the first member of the Church in the area of Tennessee, where she lived for many years.
Virginia helped to pioneer the building of the church
in Tennessee. She was asked to break ground for
the first LDS Church building in Rockwood,Tennessee. She was always very active in the church and worked as a missionary for the church within the Rockwood, Tennessee region for a time.Genealogy was her favorite hobby and she
successfully researched her family roots. Virginia was preceded in death by three husbands, Curt Harris of Harriman, TN, Spurgeon Moody (Red)Willett of Rockwood, TN and William Franklin (Bill) Kirby,also of Rockwood, TN. She was also preceded in death by two of her six daughters, Opal Brown of Harrison, TN and Helen Henley of Arlington, Texas. Surviving her are her four remaining daughters, Wanda (Harris) Weber of Plano, TX, Barbara (Harris) Bryant of Seguin, TX,Jeanette (Harris) Murphy of Las Vegas,NV, and
Crystal (Harris) Burnham of Bountiful, Utah. Virginia is also survived by three sons-in-law, William Buster Brown, Harrison, TN, formerly of Rockwood, TN, James Bryant of Seguin TX, formerly of Rockwood, TN and L. Dennis Burnham of Bountiful, UT. Virginia is survived by 22 grandchildren and many Great and Great-great grandchildren. Virginia is also survived by two step-children, Spurgeon Willett, Jr of Warren, Michigan and Catherine Willett Laws of Indianapolis, IN and was preceded in death by her stepson Lawrence Willett of Rockwood, Tennessee. Virginia was a wonderful mother,good worker, and a good-hearted person who always tried her best. Her family and friends will remember her with love and gratefulness. She has returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven as well as her earthly father and mother and will arise with them in the First Resurrection to continue her eternallife with her family and those who are near and dear to her.
