She received her early education at West Belton Thomas Breckeridge Harris HS: graduated from Huston-Tillotson College Austin Tex, did post graduate studies at Temple University of Philadelphia, and at University of Maryland; Maryland Institute of Art, and of Johns Hopkins University in Balitimore, Maryland.
On Feb.26, 1950, Marilyn and William Harris were wed in Holy Matrimony in Austin Texas, Since William was a career soldier they lived many places here in the US and overseas. Unto this union 6 children were born, Deborah Kate Kelley , William Owens Harris,Jr, Edward Nelson Harris, Marilyn Jill Harris, Stanley Lankford Harris, and Joy Allison Harris.
Marilyn along with her family united with Mt Zion United Methodist Church in 1968. She has served as Secy. for the Council on Ministries; Chairperson for Unity Day; Vice Chairman of the Courtesy Committee and Chairman of Higher Education and Campus Ministry.
Marilyn was a Teacher in the Baltimore City Schools System from 1960 to 1987. During that time, she received many awards and trophies and was nominated Teacher of the Year twice by fellow co-worker.
Marilyn was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority-Alpha Psi Chapter and the Order of the Eastern Stars-Chapter 113
Marilyn will be sadly missed by: her Husband, William Owens Harris, Sr; her children 2 grandchildren, Kimberly Joy Perry and Edward Nelson Harris, Jr; and a host of other family and friends
