He was a former Chairman of the Board of Governors of the San Francisco Opera after having been a performing member for many years. Galliano "Dan" Daneluz made his debut with the organization at the World's Fair on Treasure Island, San Francisco, California in 1939. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy Violet Beckwith Daneluz for 23 years. "Dan" was the son of Eugenio Daneluz and Maria H. Bodie. His father was a "stone cutter" by trade and had an excellent business of creating grave markers, headstones and refurbishing them as well as maintaining the crypts for many very well-known San Francisco's oldest families (Zellerbach, Fleishacker, etc.). Dan sold his very well-established business before he became very ill with deteriorating heart disease. The new owner of his former business was the one who created the grave markers for his last wife, Dorothy Violet Beckwith Daneluz and for his beautiful grave marker.

"Dan" was very well known, loved and respected by his family as well as the world renowned headliners in the operas around the world. Dan and Dorothy were known to have entertained some of the "greats" in opera in their home on the West Bay Peninsula. Luciano Pavarotti loved Dorothy's cooking and stayed in their home for two weeks during one of his many visits.
