Argentine football (soccer) player. He was nicknamed "El Búfalo" (The Buffalo). He initiated his carrer in Huracán de San Luis and then played for several teams such as Estudiantes de la Plata, Sarmiento de Junín, and Millonarios, of Bogotá, Colombia. In 1985 he scored 33 goals in just one semester, a record for which he won the "Botín de Oro" (Golden Shoe). In 1986 he was incorporated in Argentina's River Plate, and constituted a vital piece making the team win the "Copa Libertadores de America" for the first time, scoring important goals in both final games against America de Cali, first in Colombia, and then in Buenos Aires. Other teams he played for were Olympiakos of Greece and Velez Sarsfield of Argentina. He passed away in Buenos Aires due to a cardiac illness that had been discovered while he played in Greece. He rests in a mausoleum in his native province. Today the stadium of San Luis carries his name.
