Methard R. Bush Smith Brooks -- Born May 5, 1904 in Rockville, AL to the late Rev. Charlie and Sallie Mae Bush, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at a local hospital. She was the last surviving child of thirteen children. She was a resident of Mobile for more than sixty years. Both of her husbands preceded her in death. Methard was faithful member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities until her health failed. She is survived by eleven of her thirteen children (Frank and Leon preceded her), six boys and five girls, Louis (Shirley), Eugene (Annette), Melvin Smith, Luretha Horn, Sally (Rhuey, Jr) Jackson, Claretha (William) Patterson, Sherrian Wilson, all of Mobile, Charles, Roy (Mary Ann), both of Houston, TX, Bessie Alexander, Cleveland, OH, Robert (Janie) Smith, Columbia, SC. One daughter-in-law, Rosie B Smith, Mobile, AL. Twenty-two grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren, fifteen great-great-grandchildren, ten nieces, two nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Her remains can be viewed at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home Sunday, April 16, 2006 from 12:00 until 4:00p.m. and continued Monday, April 17, 2006 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 1012 Adams St., after 9:00a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at which time Rev. Montgomery Portis, Jr., Pastor, will conduct the funeral service.
