Mrs. Martha Jane Ball, wife of Samuel Ball, a well known farmer of this county, died at her home near Salem, Sunday night. Mrs. Ball was 78 years old. She had been in failing health for some weeks, and on Saturday suffered a paralytic stroke, which was followed by death in a few hours.
The deceased was a member of Salem Baptist Church for many years. She was a consecrated Christian and a most estimable woman. Her high ideals and sterling qualities are reflected in the lives of her nine children who are upwright citizens.
Mr. and Mrs. Ball celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last October.
Mrs. Ball is survived by seven sons and two daughters, S. T. Ball, Jr of Owenton, Wilson of New Liberty, J. H., T. M., J. G., and D. B. all of this county; Mrs. W. C. Cull of Owenton and Mrs. Mary Hall of New Liberty. A daughter, Minnie, died several years ago.
Burial services were conducted by Rev. Johnson at the Salem Church Tuesday afternoon. Burial was at Salem.
