L. Hillard Babbs, 82, a retired highway maintenance employee, died at 2:25 p.m. Thursday at Pekin Memorial Hospital, Pekin.
His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McReynolds Chapel, Stanford, with the Rev. Harry Greuel officiating. Burial will be in Brooks Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the McReynolds Chapel.
He was born December 14, 1891, in Salem, a son of Lucious and Mary Sparks Babbs. He married Emma Smothers June 3, 1914, at Salem.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Cremeens, Peoria; Mrs. Mary Orrick, Pekin; three sons, Leslie, Lexington, Donald and Robert, both of Stanford; 21 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.
A son, a daughter, three sisters, a brother, a grandchild and a great-grandchild preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be grandsons of the deceased, Tom Orrick, Dale Babbs, Larry Cremeens, Michael Babbs, Lloyd Orrick and Russell Babbs.
