DON MASSEY

Don Massey was born in Vernal, Utah in 1908, the fourth child of Ira and Ida Massey. In 1918 he moved to Arizona with his parents. He graduated from Williams High School. He later attended the Police Science Academy in Phoenix and Tucson.

In 1928 Don wed Kathryn Margaret Lofer. Kathryn had lived in Arkansas until she was 16. She then went to La Junta to work for Fred Haver. She attended school for eight months and then went to Williams, where she met Don. In 1945 Kathryn and Don were divorced.

Don was then married to Patsy L. Kilpatrick. Two years later, in August of 1947, Don was appointed Chief of Police in Williams. In 1960 Don divorced Patsy. 1961 found Don serving as a counselor in the Branch Presidency of the Williams Branch (LDS Church), and in 1967 he was called as the branch president. He also devoted much time to civic service.

Don retired as Chief of Police in 1972, having served in that position for 25 years. In 1977 Don and Kathryn were remarried and shortly, thereafter, sealed in the Arizona Temple. Kathryn has served in many positions in the Relief Society. They both enjoy gardening, fishing and traveling.
