Major League Baseball Player. The outfielder spent six years in the big leagues with the Cleveland Indians (1929 to 1934) and the Boston Red Sox (1934). The left-handed swinger received the nickname Twitchy for constantly having his bat in motion at the plate. It didn't stop him from hitting .350 with 43 doubles and eight triples and scoring 100 runs in 1930. He batted .312 the following year and hit .308 with 42 doubles and 106 runs scored in 1932. He was traded with pitcher Wes Ferrell on May 25, 1934 to the Red Sox for pitchers Bob Weiland and Bob Seeds and $25,000. He batted .308 lifetime with 159 doubles, 37 triples, 11 homers and 284 runs batted in.
