He also was with the Chicago White Sox in 1948. He didn't have much success with the last-place teams, going 2-13 with a 5.76 earned run average in 1939, 3-14 with a 5.45 ERA in 1940 and 4-14 with a 3.57 ERA in 1941. During the latter season he was 4-4 with a 2.07 ERA with six saves in relief, leaving him 0-10 as a starter. His lifetime statistics were 13-50 with a 4.83 ERA and 10 complete games in 54 starts.
