Mrs. Emeline Reinhart, wife of W.D. Reinhart, a well known and prominent farmer residing a mile east of Rathdrum, died very suddenly at the Deaconess Home hospital in Spokane at about 3:30pm Thursday. She had been confined to her bed about 15 weeks, suffering from cancer of the stomach, although the attending physicians were not always certain as to the correct diagnosis of the malady. The patient was removed to the Spokane hospital a week ago Monday. For a time there seemed to be no material change in her condition, but a day or two before the end came she was reported much improved, as a result of which only one member of the family, Miss Myrtle Reinhart, was at the bedside when her mother died. The end came very unexpectedly and so sudden that no other member of the family could be summoned.
The remains were brought to Rathdrum this morning and conveyed to the K.P. hall, accompanied by a large number of relatives and friends of the family. The funeral will take place from the Presbyterian church tomorrow at one o'clock. Rev. Walker of this place and Rev. Hodgson of Coeur d'Alene will conduct the services. The remains will be interred at the family burying lot in Pine Grove cemetery.
Deceased was born in Ohio, September 3, 1849, and was married to W. D. Reinhart in Minnesota April 18, 1866. Fifteen children were born to this union, 12 of whom, three sons and nine daughters, beside the husband, survive their mother. The youngest child is four years old, and all will be in attendance at the funeral tomorrow, except one daughter, who resides at Raleigh, N.C. Deceased was a devoted wife and mother and possessed those noble, womanly traits which always command the truest love and respect in the family and the admiration of friends. The bereaved family, whose loss is known to be great, have the sincere sympathy of this community, where the departed one had a large circle of friends and was universally respected.
