Irene H. Ballard, 83, of Hallsville died Monday, Oct. 17, 1994, at her home. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Oliver Landmade officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. Ballard was born July 31, 1911, to J.R. Hinshaw and Nellie Mae Hagans in Boone County. She married Leon Burd Ballard on Aug. 9, 1941, in Columbia, and he survives. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 6276 in Centralia. Survivors include a son, William Robert Ballard of Overland Park, Kan.; a daughter, Betty Ann Akers of Kansas City; two brothers, Therion Hinshaw of Jefferson City, and Jimmie Hinshaw of Columbia; two sisters, Mona Hughes and Marie Wilhite, both of Columbia; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers and a sister.
