Velda was born in Mills Springs, NC and was the daughter of Squire Parker Gilbert and Leila Sally Turner. She married Zeb Vance Blanton 18 May 1930. Velda and Zeb were the parents of Eunice, Pearl, Annie, Elsie, & Myrtle. Velda was a member of Holston Creek Baptist Church. She retired from Inman Mills, Saybrook Plant after 40 years service.
