Army Capt. Eggers of Cape Coral, Florida spent his early years in Hollis, NH, until moving to Cape Coral in 1987. He graduated from Cape Coral High School in 1993. He earned a history degree from The Citadel in Charleston, SC. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army infantry in May 1997. He was stationed at Fort Stewart, GA. He began special forces training in July 2001 and earned his Green Beret in February 2003. He was deployed to Afghanistan in April 2003 and returned to the United States in October 2003. He was deployed again in April. He spent his life and his time in Special Forces helping others become what they often thought they could not be. His dedication inspired every person he came in contact with. For that, he will forever be remembered. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca, and sons, John and William, all of Fort Bragg, NC; his parents, Margaret and William Eggers of Cape Coral; five siblings in Cape Coral, Anne Marie, Stephen, Maris, Mary Jeanne and Rose Mary; and a brother, William, who awaits deployment to Iraq with the U.S. Army, 24th Infantry Division.
