Benjamin L. Fifield "Benny" Sebring, FL/Portage Benjamin "Benny" L. Fifield, age 93, of Sebring, FL, formerly of Portage, passed away on July 26, 2005. He was born on July 21, 1912 in Chesterton, IN to Frank and Susie Fifield. Mr. Fifield was a retired employee of Budd Company. He was a former member of 1st United Methodist Church of Portage. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1900 of Portage, where he served as Governor and held many other offices. Also, he received the Pilgrim degree of Merit. Mr. Fifield was an avid collector who loved visiting all garage sales. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; son, Charles; granddaughter, Dianne Marie Hoyt; great-granddaughter, Sarah Lynn Paulsen; brothers: Ted, Orville and Frank Fifield and sister, Margaret McDonald. Survivors include daughters: Janet (Jack) Hoyt of Sebring, FL and Phyllis (Glen) Johnson of TN; son, Harold (Joyce) Fifield of FL; brother, Norman Fifield of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Clarice Grillo of Merrillville; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services and Loyal Order of Moose service at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2005 at Rees Funeral Home, Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with Rev. Alex Stone, officiating. Visitation on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cremation will follow at Calvary Crematory, Portage, IN. Burial of cremains at McCool Cemetery, Portage, IN.
