Nettie Marie Harrell, age 91, of Tuscaloosa, died March 10, 2006 at La Rocca Nursing Home. Nettie Harrell was preceded in death by her parents, Abjah and Minnie Ward Allen of Elk City, Okla., her brother, Wallace Allen of California, her first husband, Roy Obadiah Sides, and her second husband, D.W. Harrell of Tuscaloosa.

Her first husband was Roy Obadiah Sides, who was a government attorney. She married him March 18, 1944 in Baltimore, Maryland. He passed away in Florida in 1986.

Nettie was born June 27, 1914 in Morris, Okla. She worked for the Oklahoma Audit Bureau in Oklahoma City and the U.S. Treasury Department in Los Angeles, Calif. In 1941, she went to Washington, D.C. as an Auditor in the General Accounting Office. Later she transferred to the Pentagon and served as a Budget Officer until her retirement in 1971. She was involved in the establishment of the Presidential Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.
