Lera Alexander was born to Elvia Lott and Albert Applewhite on May 11, 1926 in Sikeston, Missouri. Her parents; sister, Lucille Carter and brothers, Otis and Albert Applewhite, preceded her in death.
Lera moved from Sikeston, Missouri to East St. Louis, Illinois in 1945 and joined Mt. Zion MB Church under Pastor John H. Rouse. She was a member of the Usher Board and was recently honored as being one of the oldest members of the church. She loved church and she loved God. God saw fit to carry her home on the morning of September 29, 2001.
In 1946, Lera and Marvin '' Snow '' Alexander were united in Holy Matrimony. No children were born to this union. Lera loved family. She attended the Lott and Alexander family reunions faithfully and was a matriarch to all that knew her.
She leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: a loving companion of many years, Willie Lee '' Jack '' Lovelace; sisters, Rosie Mae Williams, and Virginia Sims; brothers, John (Dolly)Applewhite, Moses (Mary)Applewhite and Sam (Vella Mae)Applewhite; a devoted niece, Barbara Loveless; a loving goddaughter, Lera Matthews; sisters-in-law, Pearl B. Carter, Pearleaner Alexander, Leria Alexander, Johnnie Fields, Lentine Fields and Easter Alexander; her bests friend, Celeste Everson; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; great nieces(especially, Jermal Ford); great nephews and friends.
