Bessie Fern Bell, age 95, passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 after a brief stay at the NHC home in Milan, TN.

Mrs. Bell was born January 1, 1916 in Madison County, TN to the late Charles K. and Bessie Anne Thompson Johnson. Her mother died of complications in childbirth. Her stepmother, Eva Wright Johnson and daughter-in-law, Julia Tillman Bell, also preceded her in death. She was married to her beloved husband, William D. Bell, Sr. in 1933, and he preceded her in death in 1983.

Mrs. Bell was a homemaker, but worked outside the home for several years as a seamstress and tailor for Kisbers and Websters in Jackson. She was a member of the East Trinity United Methodist Church.

Surviving are two sons: Charles T. Bell (Nan) of Jackson and William D. Bell, Jr. (Ellie), Milan; 5 grandchildren, Cynthia Lynne Tatman (Scott) of Hannibal, MO, Jeffrey Scott Bell (Crystal) of Frisco, TX and Lori Anne Protsman of Savannah, GA, Charles Andrew Bell, Trezevant, and Alicia Carol Warbritton (Jerry) of Big Sandy; 12 great-grandchildren, Shelby, Taylor and Ryan Tatman, Kaitlyn, Rebecca, Joshua and Zachary Bell, Joey and Bryan Protsman, Trevor, Zachary and Sidney Warbritton; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Kailey Marie Protsman and Hunter Wayne Tatman.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Lawrence Sorensen Funeral Home, with Reverend Dennis Renshaw officiating. Pallbearers will be Jeff and Andy Bell, Scott and Ryan Tatman, Jerry, Trevor and Zachary Warbritton, and Joey and Bryan Protsman. Burial will follow in the cemetery at Rocky Springs Baptist Church in Madison County. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday.

The family requests any memorials be directed to East Trinity United Methodist Church.
