Morris Griffin was born May 30, 1932 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Sarah and Fraga Griffin. He was educated in the Philadelphia School System and graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School. After graduating from school, he entered the United States Air Force, where he served his country for 20 years until his retirement and Honorable Discharge in 1971.
He married the former Elizabeth Elsie Owens in 1952 and had three daughters. They were divorced in later years. His companion of many years, Ramona Plaskett, preceded him in death.
Morris had a keen love of sports, especially boxing. He won boxing belts in the Philadelphia Inquirer Diamond Belt Championships, welter weight division, in 1949 and 1950. He enjoyed life to the fullest and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Morris departed this life on Sunday, June 15, 2003. He leaves to cherish his memory: his three daughters, Elsie Jones, Sondra Griffin and Deborah Griffin; son-in-law, Roger A. Jones; his devoted sister, Maybelle Burch; granddaughter, Khyrstine Geiger; three great-grandchildren, Maci Griffin, Rafiq Griffin and Bahiyah Geiger as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends
