Ruth was born to David and Mattie (Smith) Cooper. She graduated from Marlow High School. She lived in Marlow most of her life. Ruth married Gurney Lee Bolton in April of 1943, in Duncan. He preceded her in death in 1970. She was a homemaker and had taken some nurses training. Ruth enjoyed gardening, cooking and sewing. She was a member of the Sunshine Homemakers, and she was a member of the women's auxiliary and a Sunday School teacher at Fifth Street Baptist Church in Marlow.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Cheryl Thomas; a son, Gerald Bolton; her parents; and a brother, Elmer Cooper; a sister-in-law, Inez Fletcher; a sister and brother-in-law, Jewel and Bonnie Joe Sutton, a brother-in-law and his wife, Lewis and Pat Bolton.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Biffle of Marlow; two grandchildren, Brigitte Biffle of Oklahoma City, and Dustin Bolton of Norman; two brothers, Lloyd Cooper of Marlow, and Franklin Cooper of Tulsa; a sister and brother-in-law, Glennace and Ernest Bolton of Marlow; three nephews, Steve Bolton of Comanche, Chuck Stepp of Guthrie, and Ronald Joe Sutton of Loco; three nieces, Donna Ousley and husband Allen of Marlow, Faye Ogden of Guthrie, and Barbara Johnson of Loco; a great-nephew, Tyler Ousley of Marlow; a sister-in-law, Lucille Green of Cocoa, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews out-of-state.
