Samuel T. New, 89, of 2801 Lakeshore Drive, St. Joseph, died Tuesday evening at his home.

Mr. New was born Jan 20, 1892, in Delta, KY. Son of John Tate New and Elizabeth (Turpin) New. He married Laura Black, Nov 12, 1912 and had 10 Children. He was retired from Clark Equipment Co. in 1958. He was a member of the Fairplain Seventh-Day Adventist Church and He had resided in St. Joseph Mi area since 1943.

Survivors include: His wife, Laura; six sons- Wilburn and Roy, both of South Haven Mi.; Lester of Cincinnati, Ohio. Carl of Muncie Ind.; Homer of St. Joseph, Cecil of Louisville, KY.; Four daughters- Mrs. Roy (Ethel) Coffey of Palm Beach, Fla.; Mrs. Othor (Addie) Worley of Harrisburg, Ky,; Mrs. Roy (Elsie) Keith of Benton Harbor Mi.; Mrs. Glenn (Geneva) Kidd of St. Joseph Mi,; One brother, David New of Bright, Ind,; one half brother, George New of Ky,; Two half sisters- Mrs. Rose Tucker of Ky, and Mrs. Ida Keith, both of Ky; 31 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren. One son, Albert, preceded him in death in 1913.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Dey-Florin Chapel of Florin Funeral Service where friends may call beginning Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial will be in North Shore Memory Gardens. Memorials may be made to Berrien County Cancer Service.
