Antone Almeida of Fruit Street, died Monday Feb 12, 2007 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton following a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Hazel F. (Laury) Almeida. He was born and educated in Taunton, the son of the late Antone and Anna (Simas) Almeida. Mr. Almeida was a veteran of the US Army 82nd Airborne Division. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
Mr. Almeida was a retired Taunton police officer who also worked as a court officer. He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Taunton Boys and Girls Club, the Massachusetts Police Association, P.A.C.C. and the St. Peter's Society.
Mr. Almeida is survived by his three daughters, Debbie Araujo of Taunton, Janet Press of Attleboro and Joan Hinton of Taunton; two sons, Kenneth Almeida of East Taunton and Antone Almeida Jr. of Taunton; three brothers, James, Frank and Richard Almeida, all of Taunton; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
His funeral will be held from the O'Keefe-Wade Funeral Home on Friday Feb 16, 2007 at 10 a.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Anthony's Church at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery in Taunton. Donations in his memory maybe made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Taunton.
