Joseph, who lived in Swanton Ohio, died in an auto accident Monday afternoon. He was just learning to drive. He attended Evergreen High School where he was a junior after having transferred from Swanton High School.

Joe had recently been accepted at Four County Vocational School. From there he planned on attending the University of Toledo, majoring in Architecture. He was going to start working at Marco's Pizza after his birthday in May. His interests included cooking, football and basketball.

Joe had a smile that was infectious. He was a person who could light up a room. He spent many nights here. He had his cot, TV and VCR/DVD control. He could pretty well entertain himself. It's difficult to imagine life with out him.

Joe is survived by his parents, Carey (Franks)
Smart, Robert Smart Jr. and four brothers: Daniel Corley, Andy and Jacob Smart and Cade Mercer. Also maternal grandparents Roberta and Kenneth Henson; paternal grandparents Robert Smart, Sr. and step-grandmother, Judy Miller, Aunt: Lara (Chris) Swartz, Uncle: Christopher (Heather) Smart, cousins and many friends.

Memorial Services were Saturday, May 3rd at 5pm at Weigel Funeral Home in Swanton, Ohio. The final song they played was "Wind Beneath My Wings" sung by Bette Midler. What a bitter sweet moment that was.

❤ "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near. Still loved, still missed and very dear."

"Perhaps they are not stars in the sky, but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy."
