Gary Lee Bowdler was the son of William John Bowdler and Marion Foulis Rendall.

SP4 Gary Lee Bowdler's tour of duty began on December 5, 1968. He was assigned to Headquarter and Service Company, 15th Medical Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division. SP4 Bowdler was killed in action while a passenger on a military aircraft that was struck by hostile ground fire and crashed. SSG James Wood Megehee was also killed in this event. SP4 Bowdler's name is engraved on Panel 18W, Line 53 of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
