There is no grave location for my Great Grandfather. He left his family and my great grandma Jennie struggled with 7 kids. Several of the kids were "pawned" off to other family members because she didn't have the means to support them all. She did everything she could to keep them together. I believe since he was cremated that his remains were disposed of. He made very few attempts to contact family after leaving Indiana. Somehow he managed for postcards or letters to be sent without postmarks. Postcards always showed distant locations. Obviously, he didn't want to be found. So sad for our family, especially my Pa, Edward McKendree Smith, he always hoped his father would return. He saved a book his Dad gave him at age 7, he kept it in a dresser drawer and it meant so much to him. I am now the owner--Brenda J. Hunt
