Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 15th in Immanuel United Methodist Church for a member, Iris T. Evans, 73, of Crisfield, who died on Thursday, July 12th in PGH Medical Center of cardiac arrest.
The Rev. Dallas W. Butler officiated, interment was in Sunnyridge Memorial Park. Bearers were Fred Cullen, Calvin Ward, Bill Gillespie, Miles Riggin, Bill Martin, all members of the Senior Choir, and William Bradshaw. Honorary bearers were Charles Biddie Tull, Harold Evans, Ira Lowe and Willie Middleton.
Born in nearby Lawsonia, she was a daughter of the late Alexander W. and Bertha H. Byrd Tyler. Her first husband, John F. Daniels, died in 1978. Mrs. Evans retired this year after 25 years as a private piano teacher. She had also been organist for the Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home for 30 years. At Immanuel Church she was organist for the past 40 years; choir director; chairman of the music committee; teacher of the Pollyanna Sunday School Class and member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the Crisfield Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Surviving are her husband, Horace W. Evans, a stepson, a granddaughter, a brother, Julian W. Tyler, Crisfield and a sister, Allene McAlbrook, Ormond Beach, Florida.
