Passed after a prolonged & courageous fight with breast cancer. She was born in Duluth on January 27, 1937 to Clifford & Marjorie Hoekstra. Marilyn lived a life dedicated to Christ & his teachings and sought out His guidance in every facet of her life. Marilyn graduated from UMD in 1959 in Elementary Education & taught for a time in Racine, WI. She was an avid reader, gourmet cook, traveled to 19 countries, volunteered in the community & enjoyed her years of being "Grandma Cookie" to her 3 grandsons. Until her illness made it impossible, she was involved with many Christian organizations & was an active member of North Heights Lutheran Church of Arden Hills. Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving husband of 24 years, Lennie.
