US Congressman. He was an one-term congressman in the United States House of Representatives. Moving to Ohio, in 1826, he studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1829 and commenced to practice law in Greenville, Ohio. He was auditor of Darke County, and a member of the Ohio State House of Representatives. In 1851, he was elected as a Whig to the Thirty-second Congress, serving until 1853. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he then engaged in the practice of law until his death at age 47.
