Norfolk - Robert Webb Batten, 64, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home July 19, 2013.
Mr. Batten was born November 14, 1948 to the late James and Alice Batten. He worked for the Virginian-Pilot for 32 years and retired in 2001. "Robby" as he was affectionately known by his family and friends never met a stranger. You could find him riding his bike throughout Norfolk and Virginia Beach, sitting on his porch singing. He was a collector and a kind hearted man. He will always be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory is: daughter, Donna Ann Boedker and husband Phillip; two grandchildren, Heaven Leigh and Elijah Nathaniel; sister, Martha Hall; two brothers, James R. Batten, Jr., Larry Batten and numerous neighbors and friends.
The family would like to thank Mr. Batten's neighbors for always showing him love and kindness and a special thanks to Mark Schumann for all he did for Mr. Batten and his family.
A celebration of Robby's life will be held at a later date. Please share your condolences with the family at www.familychoicefunerals.com
