Jane Elizabeth Vastine

BEDFORD -- Jane Elizabeth Vastine, 86, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully Saturday, Jan. 8, 2000, with her family at her bedside.

Memorial service: 10 a.m. Tuesday at William C. Martin United Methodist Church in Bedford. Dr. Fred Kandler and the Rev. Mary Fortner will officiate.

Memorials: The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Jane Vastine Fund in care of William C. Martin United Methodist Church, 2621 Bedford Road, Bedford, Texas 76021.

Jane Vastine was born Oct. 24, 1913, in Wilkinsburg, Pa., and was a graduate of Iron City Business College in Pittsburgh, Pa. She maried her high school sweetheart July 26, 1933. Together, they raised four children.

During their marriage they lived in Pennsylvania, Louisiana, California and Texas. She was a 25-year resident of Bedford and an active member of William C. Martin United Methodist Church. She shared her talents as an expert seamstress, painter, cook and Africian violet gardener to the delight of all her family and friends.

Her love for family and friends was evident in her every act of kindness and she will be an everlasting inspiration to all who knew her.

Survivors: Devoted husband of 66 years, Thomas "Tom" Judson Vastine Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Barbara Vastine Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Larry Mick; daughter, Dottie Dixon; daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Randy Pierce; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; and many other beloved family members and friends.
