EDWIN SOPHUS HANSEN

TWOCOL Edwin was born in Del Rey, CA on October 29, 1928. His parents were Sophus and Meta Hansen of Del Rey and later Sanger. He passed away at home on Tuesday, November 1, 2005, while enjoying his home and hobbies. Edwin attended elementary school in Del Rey and then Sanger High School. At age 16, he joined the Civil Service and worked as a boiler man on a ship in San Francisco. He returned to Sanger and worked for Utility Trailer. Ed was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1950, and served in Korea and Japan. After his service, he graduated from Reedley College and Fresno State College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business. He went to work for Drake Steel, then in 1962, started teaching at Caruthers Elementary School where he taught math and science for years. Edwin was a Scoutmaster in Caruthers of Troop 398 for 20 years; past President of Caruthers Lions Club, and an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Caruthers.
He is preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Melba Bristow.
Edwin is survived by Virginia of Caruthers, his loving wife of 48 years; his son Michael and daughter-in-law Joanne and their children Tara and Tyler, all of Reedley; Ed's daughter, Nancy Hansen-Pierce and son-in-law Dennis and their son William and twin daughters Madison and Hannah of Clovis; his sister, Viola Wilson of Hayward, CA; and many loved nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Page Funeral Chapel, 2014 Arrants St. in Selma, CA on Friday, November 4, 2005, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 13441 S.
