Evelyn Mae Kain, 68, 1810 East Main Street, Griffith, died October 30, 2005, at Regency Hospital in East Chicago. She was born March 15, 1937, in Crandon, Wis., and was the daughter of John and Ester (Wayberg) Stamper. On May 22, 1955, in Winamac, she married Charles Raymond Kain; he survives.
Evelyn was a homemaker and enjoyed time with her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing and playing bingo. She was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Survivors, along with her husband Charles, include four daughters: Jackquline Gamaleri, Pamela (Robert) Suprenant, and Lavonda Sue (Robert) Butler, all of Gary, and Charleen (John) Oxley of Bethalto, Ill., and 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Evelyn was also survived by a sister, Sandy Jenkins of Winamac; three brothers: Jesse and Donald Stamper, both of Winamac, and Walter Stamper of Altamonte Springs, Fla. She was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and a great granddaughter.
Funeral services were held (today) Wednesday, November 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Frain Mortuary in Winamac with Rev. Denny Wilson officiating. Burial took place in the Mr. Zion (Franklin Twp.) Cemetery located north of Winamac.
