Laura was born in Pioche Nv. Sept, 26, 1883. She was the daughter of Isaac Newton Garrison and Phoebe M. Craw Laura was the second to the oldest of eleven children, 3 girls and 8 boys. Isaac Garrison followed the mining profession, locating the "Old Day Mine," Known now as the Jack Rabbit Mine.

Laura Lived in Pioche all her life. She attended school in the house on La Cour St. and grew up here with many companions, a few of which are left. Laura was always lighthearted and full of fun and got along well with the other children at school, always siding with those she thought were being picked on and, always being kind to them.

She met Oliver Bleak after he and three others came from St. George, Utah to work in the mines. Laura loved to dance, and often made the statement, "I would rather dance than eat."

Laura and Oliver were united in marriage March 2 1906 at Pioche. From this union 7 children were born Ollie, Joe, Charley, Louise, Murray, Irene and George. Oliver passed away in 1922, leaving Laura to bear their seventh child alone.

Laura never considered herself too busy or too poor to share both time and possessions with those whom she thought needed it.
