Mary Jane was born May 17, 1927 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Arnold and Viola (Thronson) Nagel. She grew up in the Milwaukee area where she graduated from Milwaukee Lutheran High School. She married Norman F. Goldschmidt on May 10, 1947 at the Emmaus Lutheran Church. Mary Jane was a life long Banker retiring as an officer of Assocated Bank, formerly known as Kellogg Bank located in Green Bay. She found a love for bridge after moving to Clintonville and was an avid rose gardener. Norman preceded his wife in death on September 21, 1995. Mary Jane was a long time active member of Redeemer Lutheran in Green Bay where she held various position with the church. She was currently an active member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Clintonville where she was involved in the Cradle Roll, the Lutheran Women's Mission League, and the church choir.
Survivors include two sons: Keith (Karen) Goldschmidt, Pensacola, Florida; Glenn (Jenny) Goldschmidt, Clintonville;four granchchildren; Bill and Jacob Goldschmidt, Clintonville; Dana Goldschmidt, Green Bay, Troy Goldschmidt, Madison; a sister, Barbara and Jon Purnell, Brookfield, Wisconsin, sister-in-law, Janet Nagl, Chandler, Arizona, brother-in-law, Eldore (Alic Mae) Goldschmidt, Brillon.
