Ruth Carter Baker Loving Grandmother Our sweet mother, grandmother and friend, Ruth Baker passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in the early morning hours of January 28, 2003 at the age of 92. Grandma was born September 7, 1910 in Salt Lake City to Fred Arthur and Cora Nelson Carter. On June 6, 1931 Grandma married her sweetheart, Melvin P. Baker and together they shared 45 years raising three children who were their pride and joy: Paul M. Baker, Joanne Espinoza (Felix Favatella) and David (Lynda) Baker. Grandpa passed away August 1976. Grandma had a wonderful life full of love and challenges. During World War II she worked for the US Government and later for the IRS. For 15 years she cherished her time as a volunteer for Dr. Veesey at Primary Children's Hospital. Grandma was a member of the LDS church. Grandma loved us grandkids. We always went away with our stomachs full and a couple dollars in our pockets. She didn't have a selfish bone in her body; and boy did Grandma love her Sprite and Utah Jazz! You gave us a lifetime of memories and a wall with our ever-growing accomplishments. We know you were tired and suffering, and at the end with tears in your eye, Grandpa, David and all those who passed before you welcomed you back home. Our hearts are breaking because you fought so hard, but you left a part of yourself with all of us that will never be forgotten. Grandma leaves her love with all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Preceded in death by her parents, one brother, three sisters, her beloved son David and her husband. Graveside services will be held on Saturday February 1, 2003 at 12:00 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park 3401 S. Highland Drive. Friends and Family may call one hour prior to the services on Saturday. Our heartfelt thanks to everyone at Care Source Hospice, especially Kevin, Amy and Jody for making Grandma's last moments comfortable, and with us. In Lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Grandma's memory to Primary Children's Hospital.
