Junior Jackson Hurst of Sapulpa died Saturday, March 9, 2002 at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa at the age of 70.
Mr. Hurst was born May 10, 1931 in Camp Hill, Ala. He married Leona Grisham on Jan. 24, 1953 in Tulsa.
He worked for the Frisco Railroad and for Harsco. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Westside Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Kellyville High School.
Survivors are his wife, Leona of the home; children, Tammi Lynn and Chuck Harvey of Sapulpa and Cindy and Terry Harwood of Sapulpa; grandchildren, Monica Lynn Masters, T.J. Harwood and Amy Jean Harwood; great-grandchildren, Mekayla Alexie Leonard; brothers, George Hurst of Texas, Paul Hurst of Los Angeles, Don Hurst of Broken Arrow; sister, Essie Hurst of Sapulpa.
Mr. Hurst was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Milford Hurst.
Funeral service for Mr. Hurst has been set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2002, in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brad Taylor officiating.
Interment will follow in the Sunrise Cemetery under the direction of the Smith Funeral Home.
The Sapulpa High School Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps will perform military rites at the cemetery.
