Betty died at age 83, a week after having a massive stroke up at the United Methodist Memorial Home. She was a resident there for a little over 2 years.

She was born to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Coulter) Kierstead. She married Vernon Nightenhelser on Jan. 4, 1946. He preceded her in death June 19, 1990.

She was a 1939 graduate of Banquo High School. She worked as a beauty operator for 14 years in Chicago, then was manager of different shops. She also was a homemaker.

She was a member of Mount Etna United Methodist Church, General Motors Sympathy Club, Past Time Social Club in Mount Etna and General Motors Retirement Club.

Survivors include sons, James D. Nightenhelser, Birmingham, Ala., and Joe Nightenhelser, Warren; grandchildren, Royce (Stacie), Todd (Rochelle), Nathan, Nicholas, Jason (Erika) and Luke; and great-grandchildren, Lane, Kaleb, Lacey, Mikayla and Adrianna.

She also was preceded in death by sister, Willodene Dillon.
