Garnet was the last child of eight born to William Birnie and Mary Watson Birnie who are buried at Bay View Cemetery, Jersey City, NJ. She married John Bockmeyer and they lived in Hempstead, L.I., NY, they had one child, Garnet E. Bockmeyer, born in Jersey City, NJ. John died in 1920 after which Garnet married Henry A. Dodge. Henry and Garnet had no children together. After Henry passed away Garnet went to live with her daughter in NYC.
